A very warm greeting to my students and faculty members!
 It gives me immense pleasure to present the annual report of the college.
Rajiv Gandhi Govt. College, Saha (Ambala) is one of the finest co-educational institutions providing B.A., B.Com. and B.Sc. (Medical and Non-Medical) and, M. Com. & M. Sc. (Geography) courses. Its mission is to provide quality education to the students and enhancing their knowledge and skills by providing them adequate learning facilities in a healthy environment. It is my heartfelt desire that the college progresses in future and I may be able to lead our students from darkness of ignorance to the light of enlightenment, by following the college motto ‘Tamso Ma Jyotirgamaya’.

Annual Report
2024-25

The college is progressing every year. This year a total of 750 students are admitted in the college including 273 boys and 477 girls. During this year, there are 25 regular (including 03 on deputation) and 05 extension members in teaching staff; 12 non-teaching staff members, 01 computer instructor, 01 computer-attendant; 03 manpower under HKRN, and 05 apprentices in the college.


Extension Activities

Convocation: This session the college organized its 3rd Convocation Ceremony on 03 August 2024. Prof. Dr. Somnath Sachdeva, V. C. KU kurukshetra was the Chief Guest. Total 183 UG and PG graduates received their degrees on the occasion.










IQAC-Internal Quality Assurance Cell: The IQAC of the college organized the following events:
A one-day Interdisciplinary National seminar on “Indian Knowledge System and Modern Subjects” was successfully conducted on 10 January 2025. Our Chief Guest was Prof. Ramesh Bhardwaj, Vice-Chancellor- Maharishi Valmiki Sanskrit University, Kaithal. And the other resource persons were Prof. Rajeshwar Kumar Mishra, Prof. Virender Kumar Alankar, Prof Dinesh Kumar Dadhichi and Dr. Hardeep Sinh Gohil. 









A 5-days Faculty Development Program from 10-15 February 2025 (12/2/25 was a holiday) for the staff on Research Methodology and Haryana Civil Services Rules. Everyday two resource persons on various aspects of the topics enlightened the staff. Both teaching and non-teaching staff greatly benefitted from this FDP. 








NSS - Our students are engaged in community activities through NSS unit. The Unit has adopted Saha village under Unnat Bharat Scheme. Various activities, rallies and pledge ceremonies were organized under Cleanliness Drive, Tree Plantation Drives, Nasha Mukti Abhiyan, etc. Various competitions such as essay writing, slogan writing, poster making, quiz, etc. have been organized time to time to create awareness about Road Safety, First aid, Drug Abuse through lectures, webinars, seminars and camps etc. Apart from these, following are the other activities during this session: 
NSS Volunteers performed Nukkad-Natak to aware the students about Voting Rights and Vote Casting. 
A Webinar was organised to aware the NSS Volunteers about the hazards of Tobacco via presentation. 
A Skit competition was organised to aware on Drug de-addiction. 
NSS Volunteers performed election duty at allotted booths in assisting differently abled and elderly voters during the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. 
NSS Volunteers started keeping water for street animals like cows, dogs and did tree plantation under “water for birds on the roof abhiyan”. 
Volunteers Hardik and Neeraj participated in NSS Adventure Camp at Jispa, Lahaul Sapiti, Himachal-Pradesh from 12-21 June 2024. 
NSS PO (Mandeep Singh) participated as Contingent in-charge during NSS Adventure camp at ABVIMAS Manali, Himachal Pradesh from 12-21 June 2024. 
A Road Safety Awareness Campaign, One-day Anaemia and Dental checkup camp were organised by the NSS unit. 
Three NSS girl volunteers attended University Level Camp at Gurjar Kanya Gurukul Mahavidyalaya, Devdhar, Yamunanagar from 01st to 7th Jan 2025. 
Volunteers run a program of eradication of Cannabis/Bhang Plants near college area.
A Seven-Day Special Day and Night Camp from 17-23 February 2025 was organized by the unit. Chief Judicial Magistrate cum secretary Sh Parveen inaugurated the camp. Five groups i.e. Bhagat brigade, Vande Volunteers, Tiranga Team, Azad Squad and Rashtra Rangers Group were formed. During these seven days - Road Safety and Traffic rules awarness , Environmental Awareness rallies were organized. Volunteers visited slum area and tell people about the importance of education. Then met old aged people to aware them about mobile frauds The Camp was concluded by Mr. Mandeep Singh, Asstt, Prof. PG Govt. College for Girls, Chandigarh.

            











NCC - The college NCC Unit inculcates the values of patriotism, dutifulness, discipline, etc. into the students through conducting various activities. 
NCC sub unit of the college has carved a distinct place among 43 institutions of the battalion as well as at directorate level of Punjab Haryana Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh directorate.
Cadet Saksham Sharma has been selected in NDA and three cadets have joined Indian army as Agni Veer.
In the combined annual training camp held at GIMT Kanipla Kurukshetra from 12th August 21st August 2024 the cadets of the college have secured first position in guard of honour, quiz and singing competition. 
The cadets have attended 11 types of camps which is the most by an institution in Ambala group which consists of half of Haryana. 
The college also have distinction of highest number of cadets (four) who participated in Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat National level camp held at Rupnagar Punjab from 16 October to 27 October 2024. 
Three cadets of this college are representing presently the Second Haryana Battalion Ambala cantt in Firing Competition camp from 7th April to 16 April 2025. 
Senior under Officer Ankush has represented this college in republic Day parade 2025. Under Officer Sourabh has attended pre RDC.






Women Cell - The college has an energetic Women Cell that organizes various activities to empower the girls in all spheres of life, whether it is professional development, physical fitness, mental fitness or socio-cultural activities. 
Mehandi competitions were organized to celebrate Haryali Teej and Karwa Chauth festivals. 
Celebrated Teacher’s Day on 05 September 2024.
Rangoli Competition was organized to spread voting awareness on 25/09/2024.
A seminar cum workshop was organized on 19/11/2024 by HIIT based on professional themes.
A lecture and a rally on Gender based Discrimination were conducted on 30/11/2024.
A three days Art and Craft workshop was conducted on 24, 25 & 27 February 2025.
A lecture on Cyber Security was delivered by The SHO, Ambala on International Women’s Day celebration on 08 March 2025.
























Cultural Committee - The Cultural Committee brings out the creative side of the students by conducting various activities. Activities during this session are as:
Talent Show was organized by Cultural Cell on 12th and 13th September 2024. in which Declamation, Poetical Symposium, Quiz, Painting Competition, Playing Instrument, Singing and Dancing events were conducted. 
A two-day Instrumental Music Workshop was organized under the aegis of IQAC and Cultural cell on 8th and 9th October 2024. Dr Chander Pal Punia of GMN College, (Ambala Cantt.) discussed the theory of music, techniques of musical instruments and the importance of sur and taal with the students. 
College students participated in eleven events in the 47th Zonal Youth Festival at SD College, Ambala Cantt. in events including choreography, solo dance (Haryanvi), solo singing (general), folk instrument playing, poster making, quiz, on-the-spot painting, Mehendi, Sanskrit declamation, debate and elocution. The college team got commended (2nd position) in Choreography.
The College Quiz team including Shital (B.A. III, 2061), Simran (B.A. III, 2016) and Rohan (B.A. I, 2026). won first position in Haryanvi Quiz in Ratnawali Festival held at KUK from 25th-28th October 2024.                
The College Choreography Team participated and got 3rd position in the 45th Inter-Zonal Youth Festival held at IB College, Panipat from 12th to 14th November 2024.
Organised a Cultural Show on 20 February 2025 with great enthusiasm. Folk Song, Folk Dance (Solo) and Folk Dance (Group) were organized. 











Sports Committee – The College has an active Sports Committee. It motivates the students towards sports activities and prepares them for participation in events conducted inside or outside the state. The students of this college participated in the following sports championships during the session-2024-25:

Selection trial for university cricket team for All India Inter University held on 07-02-2025 at NIT playground, Kurukshetra.

The 18th. Annual Athletic Meet of the college was held at the playground of this college on 18-02-2025. Chief Guest on Opening ceremony was Dr. Khushila, Principal, GCW Ambala City and Chief Guest on Prize Distribution & closing ceremony was Ms. Renu Rishi, Principal, RGGC, Saha. Best Athlete in male section was Mr. Sourabh, BA. -II-2154 and Best Athlete in Female section----Ms. Simran, BA. -III-2235







Placement Cell – The Placement cell looks after the professional interests of students and organized various activities for the purpose such as: 
National level Career Growth Workshop on 9 November 2024. 
Intellectual property rights and entrepreneurship development on 26/11 2024. 
Extension lectures on interview skills and personality developments on 19 February 2025. 
An aptitude test for final year students by Hartron Skill Centre Ambala Cantt on 24 February 2025.
Seminar on Civil Service examination on 01 March 2025. 
Seminar on one-day awareness lecture on Competitive examination like Banking, SSC, CGL on 19 March 2025. 




Eco Club - Eco Club of the college endeavour to aware and educate the students towards keeping the environment green and sustainable. For this, the club organizes various activities such as:
A tree plantation drive was held on 08th August 2024 by NSS in collaboration with Eco Club. Trees with aesthetic and medicinal values such as Jamun, Imli, Bottlebrush etc. were planted.
A documentary was shown to raise awareness on wildlife conservation specially orangutans to celebrate International Orangutan Day (19th August 2024) on 16th August 2024. Students were informed about the concept of endangered species. They learnt about Borneo rainforest and pledged to take care of their environment. 








Library - The College has an automated and well equipped fully air-conditioned library with 03 ACs. Here we have 9480 number of books. The library is equipped with 03 computers, 02 printers, 02 photocopy-cum-printer machine. There is an additional reading room for PG students. We bring five magazines every month: Pratiyogita Darpan (English), Competition Success Review, Women’s Era and English & Hindi versions of India Today and. Our college library is the member of N-LIST Programme of MoE enabling our access to more than 6000+ e-journals, 199500+ e-books through N-LIST and 600000+ e-books through NDL.

Scholarships – Scholarships are offered to deserving and needy students to encourage them to take up Higher education. This incentive falls in line with the motto of Higher Education of the State: Access, Equity and Quality. Generation makes Nation. The college distributes scholarship under various schemes provided by the Haryana Government. This year many students received benefits under SC/ST scholarship, Post metric Scholarship to BC, Haryana State Merit scholarship to UG girls students, Haryana State Merit scholarship to UG/ PG students, Haryana State Meritorious Incentive scholarship, Consolidated Stipend and Free Books Scheme for SC, and other Scholarships.

Canteen Contract Committee - This committee ensures the running of a canteen in the college so that staff and students can get refreshment within the campus. The college got the rent fixed to a nominal rate enabling the contractor to maintain quality. Also as per the guidelines from DGHE the canteen is run by the member of Mahila Swayam Sahayata Samuha and the contractor has been instructed to use HAFED mustard oil and Vita milk in the canteen.

Apprenticeship Committee - Adhering to the Haryana Government’s policy of providing practical and ground-level knowledge of office working to the pass-outs from vocational institutions, the college every year engages ITI pass-outs as apprentices. A complete process comprising written test, practical test and viva-voce is followed. A panel comprising of the office Dy. Supdt., computer instructor and computer attendant conduct the process under the supervision of the committee and the principal. During this session 05 apprentices were engaged under COPA trade.

Anti-Ragging Cell - The college has an Anti-Ragging Cell to provide a fear-free, stress-free, safe environment to the fresher students in the college campus. The objective of the cell is to aware the students about the Government’s Anti-Ragging Policy, to educate them about ragging activities, to warn them against involvement in ragging, to monitor and keep check on ragging activities, to look into the complaints against ragging.

Alumni Committee: An Alumni Meet was conducted on 01 August 2024.



Departmental Activities

Department of English: The department conducted Quiz Competitions based on syllabus 
On 03 April 2025 for BA 6th semester.
On 04 April 2025 for BA 2nd and 4th semesters.










Department of Hindi: The department organized:
Speech and Poetry Competitions on Hindi Diwas 14 Sept. 2024.
 Quiz Competition based on the syllabus on 14 Nov. 2024.
Slogan Writing Competition on 02 April 2025.








Department of Sanskrit: The department in collaboration with Sanskrit Bharti Haryana (trust) conducted a 7-days workshop on Sanskrit Sambhashan from 28 March to 05 April 2025. Instructor Mr. Devansh Krishan shared scientific and modern technics to understand and learn Sanskrit language in the workshop.








 Department of Political Science: 
Three students Lavish, Rohan and Neha participated in Inter-College Quiz Competition conducted by Dept. of Political Science at SD College Ambala Cantt. on 16th November 2024 and were felicitated with cash prize and certificates for the third position in the competition.
A quiz competition was organized by Dept. of Political Science to celebrate Constitution Day (26 November) on 23 Nov. 2024.
The Reading of Preamble of Constitution was carried out at Rajiv Gandhi Government College, Saha on 17th January 2025.





Department of Psychology: The department organized:
Sketching competition on 07 Sep 2024.
Students participated in College level science exhibition 20-11-24. 






Department of Geography: The department conducted various activities during the session as:
Two students Lavish and Rohan participated in Inter-College Quiz Competition conducted by Dept. of Geography at GC Raipur Rani on 19th October 2024 and won first position.
The students were taken to village Jawahargarh on 5th-6th November 2024 for socio-economic field survey. The students collected data regarding demography and socio-economic characteristics of the village.
The geography students participated in college level Science Exhibition held on 21 November 2024 with models including fluvial landscape, ecosystem and water pollution. The exhibit Water Pollution by Simran (B.A. III) and Aanchal (B.A. III) was the winner. 30th January 2025.
The winning model on Water Pollution: Sources and Solution, jointly prepared by Simran (B.A. III, Roll no. 2163) and Aanchal (B.A. III, Roll no. 2004) was presented at District Level Science Exhibition at GC Barwala on 23/11/2024. 
The students were taken to Saha market on 21 March 2025 to collect data regarding socio-economic characteristics of the shops for socio-economic field survey. 




Department of Physics: The department organized:
Poster making competition on the occasion of space day on 23/08/2024.
Essay writing competition on 04/11/2024.
Science exhibition on 21/11/2024.

Department of Chemistry: The department organized:
Power Point Competition on 28.08.2024 to create drug awareness.
The chemical society has organized Power Point Presentation Competition in college on 14.10.2024 with the objective of the revision of chemistry syllabus & improve presentation skills.
The chemical society in collaboration with Red Cross unit of our college has celebrated Deworming Day on 18.09.2024, in which more than 100 Albendazole tablets were distributed among college students.
 Road Safety Quiz and in collaboration with NSS unit an Anemia and Teeth check-up camp on 14.10.2024.
A College Level Science Exhibition was organized by chemistry department along with physics, geography and psychology departments on dated 21.11.2024. The chemistry exhibit stood at First position (Chemagical Pen & Reusable Paper) was displayed in Inter-District Level Science Exhibition at Government College, Barwala on 23.11.2024.
In consonance with “Mentoring & Monitoring Program” organized by Education Departments, Haryana, the chemical society of our college has continued the program titled “Chemistry: The Magical Science” this year too.
